Celebrate The Holidays in a Green Way with Huge Savings

According to a recent Gallop poll, consumers will spend on average $715 on holiday gifts for others this year. Have no fear... you can celebrate a GREEN holiday season the GOODWILL way without spending a small fortune! If you let your imagination go wild as you peruse the aisles of Goodwill's retail stores, you can score some phenomenal items at unbeatable prices. For example...

  • Pick up a "plain jane' wreath for under $3.00; grab a glue gun; and decorate it with small kick knacks from home such as small leftover ornaments. Candy works, too!
  • Most of our stores carry an array of holiday cups and saucers. If you glue the two of them together and pick up some wax at a local craft store or melt some from an old candle, you've got yourself a great holiday candle and a conversation piece.
  • Use recycled holiday stockings to wrap gifts!
  • Add flowers or holly to a $1.99 glass vase and you've got yourself a beautiful holiday centerpiece.
  • On a cold, snowy day, let your children decorate plain white coffee mugs with messages of love and happiness for grandparents and other special people in their lives.

    Happy Holidays from Goodwill!

Celebrate The Holiday Season with an End-Of-Year Tax Deduction!

There is plenty of merit to the old adage, "Out with the old, in with the new." Now's the time to make room for all those holiday gifts that will soon be coming your way. Best of all, by cleaning out your closets and donating to Goodwill, you'll get an end-of-the year tax deduction while supporting Goodwill's mission of putting people with special needs to work.

Goodwill accepts donations of gently-used clothing, small household items, toys, computers, cars and electronics at its 21 donation centers located throughout Southern and Central New Jersey and Philadelphia. Donating is even more convenient with the use of Goodwill's automated donation kiosks and our friendly donation attendants. You can enter your information in our kiosks and get a receipt for tax purposes all on your own! Donations made by December 31 are eligible for a 2010 tax deduction. Revenue from the sale of donated items in Goodwill's retail stores fund job training programs that help local residents with disabilities and disadvantages get to work.

Donors should keep an itemized list of their donations. The IRS allows a deduction for each item, but the donor determines each item's value. Please visit http://www.goodwill.org/get-involved/donate/taxes-and-your-donation/ for more information.

Goodwill's Annual Client Holiday Party

Goodwill is making final preparations for its Annual Client Holiday Party set for Wednesday, December 15th at the Camden County Boathouse in Pennsauken. We are so excited to provide this event for our clients as many of these individuals live in group homes or alone and this is the only holiday experience they have. Because of Goodwill's generous donors, we are able to provide a holiday luncheon with music and dancing and even a visit from Santa! The cost to sponsor one client is $25 and that includes lunch and a gift. If you would like to help sponsor a client, you can make an online donation at http://www.goodwillnj.org/Financial%20Donations%202.html or send a check made payable to Goodwill Industries of Southern NJ & Philadelphia to 2835 Route 73 Maple Shade, NJ 08052, Attn: Mary Polizzi. As always, thank you for your generosity and your support for our cause and clients.
