Welcome to Goodwill® e-news, a bi-monthly publication designed to keep you informed about the events and happenings at Goodwill.

DID YOU KNOW?

In addition to Goodwill's 22 attended donations centers, there are also 45 Municipality Donation sites where residents can drop off their unwanted items. These municipality sites, which have different operating hours and collect predominantly computers and TVs, make it even more convenient for residents to donate to Goodwill. Click here for a list of these locations and to see what items are accepted.

Q & A: What to Donate

Q:              What items does Goodwill accept?

A:               Goodwill gladly accepts gently-used clothing, jewelry, accessories, small household items, books, toys, computers, other electronics and cars. Goodwill makes every effort to accept all donations; however, there are some items that we cannot accept because of safety and storage reasons. Click here for a complete list.

Twenty-four year old Michael Jackson is an extended employee in Goodwill’s Outsourcing & Production Fulfillment Center. This Center provides cost effective outsourcing services to local businesses while giving a workforce of individuals with disabilities the opportunity to learn, to work and to earn a paycheck. And while Michael is an outstanding employee who works diligently on jobs for companies such Subaru of America and Destination Maternity, he is also recognized as an INCREDIBLY talented artist. That’s why Goodwill’s Director of Commercial and Industrial Contracts Wes Hughes turned to Michael to add some pizzazz to the warehouse area as part of the Center’s ongoing 5S/Kaizen efforts. The end result—a beautiful mural featuring Goodwill’s smiley G logo and the words “Good Quality Makes Our Customers Happy.” With this project wrapped up, Michael is eager to move on to the next!

Go Green As You De-clutter This Spring

Get ready for Earth Day on April 22 by getting a jump start on your spring cleaning! And remember reduce, reuse, recycle! As you de-clutter, please keep in mind that Goodwill gladly accepts donations of clothing, household items, toys, books, computers and electronics at all of its donation centers.

By donating to Goodwill you are going green while simultaneously supporting a great cause. The monies generated from the sale of donated items in Goodwill's 19 retail stores helps fund job training programs and career services that prepare individuals with disabilities and disadvantages for competitive employment in the community.

* Goodwill Organizing Tip: As you’re cleaning out your closets create three piles—a pile for outgrown or outdated clothes to donate, a pile for clothes you want to keep and a pile for trash. This will make it much easier to de-clutter for spring!
